The Two Trenchless Methods We Use
Pipe Lining (Cured In Place Pipe / CIPP)
Pipe lining is used when your existing sewer pipe still has its basic shape intact but has cracks, corrosion, root damage, or joint failures.
The process works like this. We run a camera through the pipe to assess the damage. We clean the pipe thoroughly using hydro jetting to remove debris, roots, and buildup. We then insert a flexible liner saturated with structural resin into the pipe. The liner is inflated to press against the pipe walls and cured in place using heat or UV light. Once cured, it forms a seamless, jointless new pipe inside your old one that is just as strong as new PVC and rated to last 50 years or more.
Pipe lining works exceptionally well on Monroe's old clay tile and cast iron pipes where the overall pipe route is still sound but the pipe material itself has deteriorated. It eliminates joints entirely, which is the most common entry point for root intrusion in older pipe systems.
Pipe Bursting
Pipe bursting is used when your sewer pipe is too far gone to line. Severely collapsed sections, heavily deformed Orangeburg pipe, or pipe with multiple structural failures requires a different approach.
With pipe bursting we pull a cone shaped bursting head attached to a new HDPE pipe through the old damaged pipe. The bursting head fractures the old pipe outward into the surrounding soil as it moves through. Behind it, the new pipe is pulled into place. The result is a completely new sewer line occupying the same underground route as the old one, requiring only two small access pits at either end of the line rather than a full trench.
Pipe bursting is particularly effective for Orangeburg sewer lines, which are extremely common in Monroe homes built between 1945 and 1972. Orangeburg cannot be reliably lined in most cases because of its deformed shape, making bursting the preferred trenchless option.
What Trenchless Repair Costs in Monroe, LA

How the Process Works
Camera Inspection
We run a high definition camera through your sewer line from a cleanout or toilet access. We show you the footage and explain exactly what we found, where the damage is, and which trenchless method is appropriate for your specific situation.
Pipe Preparation
For pipe lining we hydro jet the pipe thoroughly to clear all debris and root material. For pipe bursting the preparation is minimal. We locate and dig two small access pits at the start and end of the damaged section.
Repair or Replacement
The liner is installed and cured, or the new pipe is pulled through. The process is surprisingly fast. Most residential laterals in Monroe are completed in four to eight hours.
Final Camera Inspection
After the repair we run the camera again to confirm the liner has seated correctly or the new pipe is properly positioned and flowing freely.
Cleanup and Permit Closeout
We backfill any access pits, restore the surface, and handle all required Ouachita Parish permit inspections to close out the permit properly.
Is Trenchless Repair Right for Your Situation?
Trenchless methods work well in most situations but not every one. A camera inspection will tell us which approach is best for your specific pipe condition and property layout.
Pipe lining works best when the pipe retains most of its circular shape, the damage is spread across the length of the line rather than concentrated in one spot, and root intrusion is the primary issue.
Pipe bursting works best when the pipe is too deformed or collapsed to line, when the pipe is Orangeburg that has lost its shape, or when full replacement is needed but excavation would be extremely disruptive.
Traditional excavation is still the right call in certain situations, for example when the pipe has settled significantly out of grade or when access conditions make trenchless equipment placement impossible. We will always recommend the method that makes the most sense for your situation, not the most expensive option.
